Job Description

The Comprehensive Cancer Center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a high performing Financial Business Partner to collaborate closely with leaders and teams, delivering financial insights that drive strategic decision-making and organizational performance.

Embedded within the Office of the Cancer Center Director/Executive Vice President, this role translates financial data into clear, actionable insights. The Financial Business Partner will support budgeting and forecasting processes, assess financial risks and opportunities, and partner with stakeholders to guide planning, influence key business decisions, and enhance financial transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to understand operational needs, financial drivers, and performance objectives.

  • Provide financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting that support strategic and operational decision making.

  • Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department leaders and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions when needed.

  • Prepare clear financial reports, dashboards, and presentations that support transparency and decision readiness.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen financial accountability.

  • Evaluate financial implications of business cases, investments, and new initiatives.

  • Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross functional and the central Financial Planning teams to enhance data quality, reporting tools, and financial systems.

  • Support long range financial planning, scenario modeling, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.

  • Build strong partnerships across the organization while promoting financial literacy and responsible resource management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

  • Utilizes reports and manages documentation to efficiently monitor financial compliance requirements within own function/department.

  • Leads team meetings on an as needed basis and effectively communicates with cross-functional teams for results.

  • Understands and uses digital tools of communication as needed.

  • Speaks up in meetings, raises concerns, and shares information with team.

  • Able to draw insights from different sets of data and quickly understand why issues are happening.

  • Develops documentation, procedures and instructions.

  • Skilled in all aspects of accounting operations including accounts payable & receivable, collections and cash projection

  • processes.

  • Reviews reports, ledgers, detects frauds, bad debts and ensures policies and controls are adhered to.

  • Drives process improvement projects within the department to improve efficiency.

  • Integrates financial, operational, and strategic considerations to guide decision making and recommend actions that support organizational objectives.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to leaders by aligning expertise with business priorities and co-developing solutions that support strategic objectives.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field of study required.

  • Master's degree (preferred).

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or similar roles.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with proficiency in financial modeling.

  • Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in Excel, financial systems, and reporting tools; experience with BI tools preferred.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $94,640 - $169,520 per year for the role of Financial Business Partner - Cancer Center.
