Job Description

Cleans various soft and hard-surface floors using electric and battery-powered equipment. Maintains high standards of detail, cleanliness, sanitation, and freedom from hazards and infection control issues. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious fluids, chemical disinfecting, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm with rotating weekends and holidays 7 am - 3:30 pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic tasks related to own area (e.g., various cleaning tasks, movement of equipment and furniture, and floor care maintenance), under direct supervision.
  • Perform basic tasks related to the movement of biohazardous waste for proper waste disposal and regular trash movement and removal to designated waste receptacles.
  • Assist in maintaining in good condition any personal protective equipment deemed appropriate for use through job hazard assessments.
  • Assist in providing patients, visitors, and health sciences staff with a safe and clean environment.
  • Provide support in maintaining standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and freedom from hazards and infections.
  • Complete proper hard surface floor refinishing with meticulous attention to detail and consistency.
  • Complete proper carpet cleaning and maintenance with meticulous attention to detail and consistency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Consistently meet job expectations, adhere to policies, and deliver quality work while applying St. Jude values and principles. Managers evaluate employee performance throughout the year—specifically through the spring and fall Check‑In milestones and the Annual Performance Review. Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.


Minimum Experience:

  • Experience in environmental services preferred.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations, laws, and standards preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of biohazardous and/ or hazardous waste management preferred.
  • Hard Surface and Carpet Care experience preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $19.50 - $28.50 per hour for the role of Floor Finisher.
