Lead-AC Refrigeration Mechanic
Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Considered an expert in applicable field; Provide comprehensive technical service/support and ensure safe and proper supervision, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of applicable facilities and/or related equipment.
- Lead preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, calibration, and/or testing of equipment campus-wide; Ensure updating of accurate records for all systems and work.
- Review designs, provide recommendations, and oversight of proposed modifications, additions, and expansions.
- Act as a liaison with the different departmental teams within the institution.
- Understand and use relevant facilities management procedures and processes, to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Supervise cleanliness throughout the facilities and maintain and update accurate records.
- Ensure a safety focused mindset on all aspects of the position; Deliver exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
- Ensure all building automation system monitoring, operations and maintenance complies with policies and procedures, federal, state and local regulatory agency requirements.
- Train and guide team members around complex activities within own area and address any escalations/ deviations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- High school diploma/ GED required.
- Successful completion of Refrigeration training program or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in A/C Refrigeration in hospital or related environment.
- Experience applying comprehensive range of principles, concepts, and practices concerning mechanical equipment, facility, and service operations.
- Strong experience monitoring and utilizing relevant facilities maintenance tools and equipment (e.g., pumps, gearboxes, motors, refrigerators, HVAC).
- Experience leading and coordinating all the facility maintenance, repairs, and renewals.
- Strong experience with computer maintenance management systems (CMMS)s, preferred.
- Strong experience with building automation systems (BAS)s (e.g., Metasys); Good understanding of applicable building systems (e.g., steam, chilled water, compressed gases, heat exchangers, HVAC).
- Basic proficiency in MS software and end-user proficiency in CMMS software.
- Strong proficiency with computer maintenance management systems (CMMS)s.
- Proficient in hospital policies and departmental procedures, preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification required.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- Refrigeration Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement required.
- Steam Engineer First Class License from Memphis And Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement required.

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
