Job Description

The Program Coordinator - St. Jude Global Programs assists in designing, implementing, and overseeing projects and initiatives within and for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St. Jude Global (SJG). Responsible for researching, documenting, and disseminating information as needed. Under the supervision of the GPM director or manager and as assigned, serves as a section and/or project team lead. Acts as a liaison with other members of GPM and SJG and its collaborators, to ensure coordination and success of departmental, regional, and/or global initiatives and departmental requirements.

Overview

The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St. Jude Global (SJG) mission by training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research. This position will support the China Regional Program, one of eight regional programs within SJG, which is focused on enhancing pediatric oncology care, research, and capacity building in China. The Program Coordinator will support programmatic operations, facilitate collaboration with partners, and contribute to the successful implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with departmental and institutional goals.

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Provide operational and administrative support for programs or projects.

  • Define program or project requirements, identify interdependencies with internal or external departments or service providers, and coordinate to receive their input.

  • Develop communications regarding the program or project; Develop project plans and/or programmatic process.

  • Develop and track metrics, provide complex data analysis and interpretation and develop program related reports.

  • Make recommendations for program or process improvements by providing inputs for systemic changes to program or project management processes to improve planning, scope management, and risk management.

  • Support the design and implementation of policies, processes and procedures. Develop processes for execution of program initiatives.

  • Engage with program management teams internally and vendors externally for coordination.

  • May mentor less experienced team members.

  • Support scheduling, coordination, and logistics for meetings, training, and events involving international partners, including virtual and in-person formats across time zones.

  • Assist in the preparation and translation of program materials and reports for Chinese-speaking collaborators (in collaboration with language services or bilingual staff, as applicable).

  • Contribute to relationship management with external partner institutions by maintaining regular communication and tracking collaborative activities.

  • Ensure documentation and follow-up for program-related decisions, deliverables, and timelines across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist with compliance-related tasks such as reviewing agreements, coordinating required documentation, or supporting adherence to institutional or regional policies.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving international time zones and diverse communication styles.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to develop solutions aligned with functional priorities.

  • Maintain organized documentation and version control for multilingual program materials, meeting notes, and shared resources.

  • Exhibit strong critical thinking to identify trends and draw out insights; work with a high level of independence.

  • Effectively sequence and prioritize tasks within programs and work independently to manage day-to-day issues, escalating as needed.

  • Ability to look at data critically and draw meaningful conclusions. Conduct root-cause analysis and analysis of large and complex data to create reports for senior leaders as needed.

  • Monitor vendor performance against desired outcomes and proactively collaborate with vendor teams to pre-empt potential issues.

  • Capable of handling communication upwards and downwards as needed.

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of budget planning and tracking tools and processes as well as related internal policies and procedures related to grants, contracts etc.

  • Track, reconcile and report budget for own area, highlighting any deviations and escalating as needed.

  • Maintain organized documentation and version control for multilingual program materials, meeting notes, and shared resources.

  • Comfortable using collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Box) in cross-cultural and cross-border contexts.

  • Present information in a clear, well thought out way and tailored to the audience.

  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when engaging with international teams.

  • Exhibit flexibility, patience, and diplomacy in navigating logistical or cultural challenges.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.

  • Master of Public Health (MPH) or a related graduate degree strongly preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in program management and delivery.

  • Significant experience working with project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Microsoft SharePoint, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, Clarity, Planview, MS Office).

  • Chinese language proficiency strongly preferred.

  • Experience in an international setting and with project management methodologies required.

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies required.

  • Supervisory and/or team coordinator experience required.

  • Experience working with international healthcare systems or academic institutions preferred.

  • Experience in cross-cultural communication and stakeholder engagement preferred.

  • Familiarity with healthcare, oncology, or public health programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) preferred.

  • Experience managing virtual and in-person events with international participants preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Program Coordinator, China Regional Program.
